My Advice For: High School Seniors

Hey everyone! With the school year started and everyone getting back into the swing of things, I thought it would be nice to share my advice for anyone who is a Senior in high school. Senior year is a crazy one, full of a ton of fun times, stressful situations, and big decisions. But I feel like some of my tips will help you make the most of it!

Don't let Senioritis kill you
I'll be honest. Senioritis is real. Senioritis happens. (For me, I started feeling it right after I got the acceptance letter from my "top choice" college) But don't let it ruin the school year. Try to push through it. If you get caught up in it, you'll be even more unhappy to be doing to your high school classes everyday.

Make the most of your "lasts"
Your Senior year is full of lasts. ENJOY them. Go to homecoming. Go to those home football games. Dress up during Senior Week. This will be your last chance to experience the "fun stuff" in high school- so really make sure to participate as much as possible and have as much fun as possible.

Keep working hard
A lot of times, usually because of senioritis, student think that senior year is a time to be lazy or stack. BUT IT ISN'T. You want to keep doing your best. Keep doing your homework. Keep studying for tests.

Listen to Your Heart
Senior year is the year where a lot of big decisions can be made. Where do I go to college? Do I know what I want to major in? Can I afford my dream school? The best way to handle these big decisions and have the right answers is to listen to your own heart! Just following what everyone else is doing may not be what's best for you. Pay attention to what you want and how you feel- that's how you become successful!

A Look At My Agenda

Hey everyone! With everyone going back to school and getting back into routines I thought I'd show the agenda I'm using this year and tell y'all why I love it so much!

So for my freshman year of college I got the Large Lilly Pulitzer agenda in All Nighter.

After using a Lilly Pulitzer agenda my senior year in high I just fell in love with them and had to get another this year! I so recommend this agenda to any busy student (like myself!). Here's a few reasons I love it so much:

The prints (inside and out) are just too cute!
It's big enough to hold everything you need....
but small enough to take with you everywhere
It has both a week-at-a-glace and a month-at-a-glance
There is plenty of room to write out events
It has a cute sticker page!
With that out of the way I thought it would be really fun to share some pictures of this years agenda! They're down bellow with little explanations after each! Hope y'all enjoy taking a look!

Here's the print All Nighter! I  just feel in love with this print as soon as I saw it!

This is right inside the agenda. The page with the palm trees is actually a reinforced folder that is great for important papers!

Here's this years sticker page, I think they are just adorable!

They also added in this Travel section this year! I just love this (I'm super into traveling) and I hope I get to use it some this year!

Here is the August month-at-a-glance!

DIY: Button Bookmaks! #bloggersBTS

Hey everyone! For this weeks "Bloggers Back to School" linkup post, I've got a cute little DIY for y'all! So I found a tutorial  for these "button bookmarks" on Pintrest and I just had to try to make them for myself. I also thought they would fit right into the back to school theme of the linkup! When in school, you find countless places to use bookmarks. Maybe you need it when studying from a textbook or reading a novel for a literary class! So here's how I did it!

For supplies you'll need paper clips, buttons, and small squares of felt like the ones above. You can choose any colors or designs you'd like for this project. I just used what I had on had at home
You'll lay the button upside down and place the end of the paper clip on top (so you're technically looking at the back of it. Then you'll place a pretty good size drop of hot glue on the back of the button. After that you just place the felt square on top of the button and glue and press it down.
When your finished the back of the book marks should look like the picture above. It may not look very pretty, but I promise that you won't see it from the front!

And here is the finished product! I think they are so cute and so practical {especially for anyone in school!}

I hope y'all enjoyed this DIY and try it for yourself! If you do try it, post a picture on Instagram or Twitter and tag me in it! I'd love to see it!

August Ipsy 2015

Hey everyone! Today I'm here to share my August Ipsy bag! I think it's a pretty good bag and I'm exited to share.

Really quickly- if you don't know what Ipsy is- it's a beauty subscription service. It's $10 a month and you get about 4 or 5 samples. It's really fun to get each month and normally really good products!

This months theme is Prep School
So let's check out what I got this month!

Eco-Beauty by La Fresh Group Good Night. Night Cream
I'm always excited to try more moisturizers and things like that! My dry skin sure does need and appreciate it! I also have a sample of the day cream I've yet to try. So I'm happy I get to try them out!

Trust Fund Beauty Nail Polish in Elegantly Wasted
This looks like a pretty basic purple nail polish. And if I'm being totally honest- I'm not a huge fan of purple. However the color name (elegantly wasted) is too cute and it's still something I'll try out on my nails for a bit. I think I'm going to use this color when I paint my nails sometime this weekend!

Noyah Natural Lipstick
This seems to be a more clam shade that still is a little interesting. I've never tried these lipsticks, so I'm not sure how quality they are but I want play around with lip colors more this school year so I definitely want to give it a try!
Briogeo Blossom & Bloom Ginsing + Biotin Volumizer
I'll be honest, I wasn't excited about this product. I keep my hair care pretty simple and don't like to use a lot of different products. In addition, I have such thick hair I really don't need a volunizer. However, I did pass this along to my sister, who I hope can get some use out of it!

Skone Cosmetics Luxe Doubler Eye/Lip Pencil in Wine
Now it seems to be an regular pencil. However, I think it's really cool that it's both a lip and eye pencil. Plus I think the wine color could look so pretty as an eye liner so I'm actually really excited to try this out!

Why I'm Choosing to Live at Home During College

Hey y'all! As college move in day quickly approaches (or has already happened for some)- you'll probably be seeing a lot of posts about roommates, dorm essentials, or even tips for move in day itself, so I really wanted to write about something a little different. I wanted to talk about my decision to live at home during college. I hope it helps y'all make your own decision about college living or that you just find it interesting!

I am attending the University of North Carolina Charlotte and after a lot of thought I decied to live at home rather than living in the dorms. Here's why I made the decision:

I live very close to the University
So it kind of goes without saying that you live close to the campus if living at home is an option for you. This is what happened to me. The college I fell in love with is literary 20 minutes from my house! How awesome! So why waste time with a dorm? I'd probably end up spending a lot of time at home anyway! Haha

My school lets freshman live off campus
This kind of goes without saying too! But I found that many colleges I was originally interested in require freshman to live in on campus. However, my school allows me to live off campus! So why not take advantage of it?

It saves money
Let's be real, room and board isn't cheap! I can't speak to all colleges, but at my school room and board is actually more expensive than tuition. Crazy!! So I figured that I would save a huge chuck of money by living at home. I am paying for most of my education myself, so spending where I can save isn't always a good idea for me! & who knows what I'll be able to do later down the road with all the money I'll save!

The Escape
Living at home gives me an escape if I ever just need a break. If I need to get away from stuff at home- I'll be able to go hang out on campus with friends, at the library, or do anything else that may be going on. If I need a break from school stuff- I've got my home and family to go to! This isn't to say that there will be constant problems at home or at school, but it's nice to know that you have the escape if you ever need it!

The support of my parents
I've always had a very close relationship with my parents and they've always been my main support system in my life. I feel like I would miss out on a lot of their support in the dorms. Living at home keeps me close and gives me all the support I'll need. I don't plan on being dependant on them for everything- but it's nice to know you have a support system 100% anytime you need it!

I'm very particular
Now I'll be honest here. I tend to like my things a certain way. I like to go to bed when I want, use a fan, keep shower stuff in a certain order- things like that. And you aren't really able to be so particular in a dorm. You have to comprise A LOT. Now this isn't to say I'm unwilling to compromise- because I am! It's just that it's hard to have your own space in a dorm- and space is something I value. And college is stressful (I know!) and taking away the added stress of continuous compromise is important for me.

**I do want to end this post by saying that I'm totally not bashing dorm living or saying that everyone should live at home during college. I think that different people like different things. I just happen to like the idea of living at home. I could totally see why other people would prefer to live on campus. I just really want to share the reason behind my own personal decision! Hope y'all enjoyed it!

"Why Do You Want to Be a Teacher?"

Hey everyone! For those of y'all how don't know, I'm a pre-special education major. So I often get asked (sometimes sarcastic- sometimes with refreshing wonder) why I'm pursuing a career in education. Today I wanted to sit down and answer, once and for all, the reoccurring question...

So here it is, why I want to be a teacher.
I want to continue to learn through a child's view of the world.
I want to be refreshed by a child's view of the world.
I want to be a voice for children who aren't given a voice.
I want to try to give every child a fighting chance.
I want to never lose my child-like love of life.
I want to shape future generations for the better.
I want to help children succeed.
I want to help children know their worth.
I want to share my compassion with children.
I want to be a champion for children. (to understand this watch this Ted Talk by Rita Pierson here)
I want to never live the same day twice.
I want to not only impact children's lives, I want to impact their families lives.
I want to be around other adults who share these same desires.
I want children out there to know someone loves them.
I want to have the liberty to have a little fun at work.

Honestly, I could probably go on and on with this post, but I think that I would start to basically repeat myself. So I'll end it here.

As I go through college and my journey towards becoming a Special Education teacher, I hope to share more things like this with y'all! I hope you enjoyed this look into my deepest passion!

How I organize: My Makeup/ Makeup Collection #bloggersBTS

Hey everyone! For this week's orginization post for the Bloggers Back To School linkup I have a post that's a little different. So when I'm in class, I usually always wear makeup. This isn't so much because I don't like how I look, but because I'm more successful when I feel good and makeup makes me feel good! So because of this I decided I'd share my makeup orginization/collection. You get to see how I store all my products as well as see some of the stuff I use! Hope y'all enjoy!

To start this black shelf is where I hold everything. It works well for me and fits well into the style of my room.

On top, I keep all of my perfumes/ body sprays on this mirrored tray. I've got a million different kinds on there- high end, Bath and Body Works, sames, etc.

These white draws hold the majority of my makeup. It might not be the prettiest way to store my makeup, but I find it works for me just the same!

This first drawer has a lot of my eye shadows in it. It's mostly single eye shadows or small palettes. You can see a lot of what I've got it there because it's so stacked up. This is definitely a full drawer!

Next I've got all of my mascarra's, eyeliners, and stuff like that. I get so much use out of this drawer and go through eyeliner and mascara like crazy!

This is what I call my foundation drawer. It's got foundation, tinted moisturizers, consealers, and bronzes in it.

Now this drawer is a little crazy (I'll be honest). This has all of my blushes and highlighters in it! I know I have way too much of this stuff. But I've just always loved blush and recently I've gotten really into highlighters!

This is just a drawer that has all kind of random samples and stuff in it! Sometimes I pull out a new roduct to try!

These are all my brushed that sit next to the white drawers on the black shelf. I have all kinds of random brands and stuff. But my favorite brushes are for sure my ones from E.L.F! They are inexpensive and good quality!

On the next shelf I've got a smaller set of white drawers for all my lip products. This  first drawer has just a lot of lip glosses and lip sticks.

Here's some more lip glosses. I have a little bit of an obsession with lip products!

This last drawer is just all of my Chapsticks/ Lip balms. Some are tinted, some aren't. I'm a little obsessed with these too.

Next to the smaller set of white drawers I keep all of my bigger makeup palettes. So here's just a picture of them all stack up like how they'd be on the shelf.

What This Lazy Girl Wheres to Class #bloggersBTS

Hey everyone! I'm so excited to be participating in Cathleen {from} and Nicole's {from} linkup: Bloggers Back to School!

This week is all about fashion. So I wanted to show you a "lazy" or "easy" outfit to wear to class. Because as much as I love fashion, I'm not always wanting to get super dressed up for class. I wanted to be real with y'all. I don't have it together each and every morning before class! But I still think I can put together a pretty cute "lazy" outfit for those days! I know this look seems very fall or winter, but honestly, class rooms are so cold a lot of the time you have to dress for the fall right off the bat in August! Here it is and I hope y'all enjoy! Look bellow for outfit details!

{Outfit Details: Top- Southern Shirt Co. Boardwalk Jersey. Pants- H&M basic black leggings. Shoes- White Leather Keds}
