Blogger Interview: Katie

Katie is the blogger behind RVA Prep. She's a part of the She Can blogger network and loves blogging & ice cream. Read below to learn more about this blogger!
~~~
Why did you start blogging?
I wanted to archive my life. I just really wanted to reach a large group of people without putting my face all over the internet, like with youtube. I have a love for explaining my experiences along with my favorite things I bought. My initial idea was to talk about my first year of High School and all the things associated with it, and now I get to with blogging.
Do you have a staple clothing item? If so, what is it?
L.L Bean boots! They match everything and they're super useful.
What's your favorite TV show to binge watch?
I have a few, but my number one is New Girl! I love Jess's personality, she's exactly like me!
Do you have a favorite ( or very recent) post you've written on your blog? If so, link it!
What's your favorite quote?
"Do what you love and love what you do."
It's Not Figured Out Yet & That's Ok
Hey everyone, today I just want to be real with y'all. At the beginning of the school year I found out that I had the room in my course work to double minor. At the time I was very excited and totally ready to jump into both endeavors. This semester I am even taking prerequisite classes for each minor. However, the smooth ride ends there. From the beginning of the semester I've really enjoyed one prerequisite class, but have not enjoyed the other at all. I found myself reading the textbook without question for one class, while I've driven home in tears after the other.
For me, this has been pretty difficult to deal with. I've always felt like I've had a good plan for my life and have always done what it took to keep to that plan. But this semester is making me think that maybe I made the wrong choice. Maybe this minor is the wrong fit for me. Maybe I shouldn't persue this one minor after all.
What's even worse, I stay unsure about what I should do. I'm torn between the passion I thought I had at the beginning of the process and the sadness I sometimes feel towards it currently. I've never been someone to struggle with indecision, but right now I really don't know what best for me.
I still may be working through this, but there is something that this had taught me. It's ok to not have everything figured out. This indecision is not the end of the world. I will make a decision when the time is right and that decision will be what's best for me.
So I just wanted to remind everyone out there to take your time. Don't feel like you have to decide just yet. You don't need to have it all figured out just yet either. You'll figure it out. You have plenty of time. Trust yourself and your process. Remember to believe in yourself! Your current indecision has no bearing on your future success.
I hope this helped someone today! Feel free to talk about what your struggling with in the comments, on my social media, or in my email (all in the contact me tab!) Maybe I can talk something through with you!
Here As In Heaven
Hey everyone! Today I wanted to talk a little bit about a new worship album that my church -Elevation- just released at the beginning of February. Elevation Worship has done such a good job with this album; I just love it! I really wanted to just share some of my thoughts with y'all today in the hope that someone likes the music as much as I do!
Below is the Spotify playlist straight from Elevation Worship in case you just can't wait to here it!
But if Spotify isn't your thing- here's a list of the songs you'll find on the album!
Here as in Heaven
Grace Like a Wave
Call Upon the Lord
O Come to the Alter
Resurrecting
Evidence
Shine a Light
Yahweh
I Can't Believe
First and Only
Praise Goes On
Hold on to Me
For A Moment
So I don't want to spoil the album for you- but I do want to share a few thoughts with you! Overall, I love every song. They're all so amazing, but I do have to say that my top two are Resurrecting and O Come to the Alter. If you can't listen to the whole album, at least check those songs out. We've been worshipping with these songs for a few months now so having the album out to listen to in my room or the car has been amazing. I love how open and raw they are. You are really praising the Lord with these songs. You can really giving it all to God with these songs.
You can either find the album to purchase, listen on Spotify, or purchase it on iTunes. I so recommend checking it out! If you've already heard some of them-let me know what your favorite songs is in the comments!
Rimmel Stay Matte Liquid Mousse Foundation Review
Hey everyone! I've been trying out a new foundation for a little while and I've been absolutely loving it! So I thought I'd take the time to talk about it on my blog and share it with my readers! Hope y'all enjoy my thoughts on this product!
So this is the Stay Matte Liquid Mousse Foundation from Rimmel. I'm in the color Ivory. To be honest, at first I thought the mousse foundation was a very weird and different consistency. I really wasn't sure if I liked it. Every other foundation I've ever used has been liquid and very smooth. This foundation seems very solid when squeezing it out of the tube. But with that said, when you go to apply it to your skin, it blends very smoothly and evenly. I didn't need to use any brush or sponge, my fingers worked just fine! The mousse consistency has really grown on me and I really enjoy it!
I set the foundation with powder afterwards and it's a great matte finish as the name of the product suggests. At first the word matte did make me nervous. I have very dry skin so ussually matte products will just dry it out even more, but not this foundation. It gives a nice matte finish to your skin without drying it out! It's even one of the more affordable foundations, even when drugstore foundations are concerned. Overall I would definitely recommend this foundation to anyone who may be looking to try a new one out!
Have you tried this foundation yet? What did you think of it?
Do you have any foundation recommendations?
Let me know in the comments!
4 Reasons We Should Bring Back The Snail Mail Trend
Hey everyone! Since I've started blogging I've meet a few girls that have sent me snail mail- and I've sent them snail mail. I've had so much fun with it and hope to continue to write them and find even more people to write! But, honestly, most people don't send cards or letters anymore (with the exception of Christmas cards). So today I wanted to give you 4 reasons why we should bring back the snail mail trend!
It connects you to people in a different way.
Of course social media is a much faster connection- but there's something about connecting with someone through something tangible like a card or letter that makes the connection so much more fun. Everyone can message you on social media- but only some people will take the time to connect with you through snail mail.
Everyone loves getting mail.
Come on, let's admit it. We all love getting mail and we all love checking the mail. Sending and receiving some snail mail is a simple and fun way to fill up your mail box! I know I'd much rather receive a hand written note than bills and credit card applications, wouldn't you?!
Stationary is so cute and fun.
Every time I go into a craft store I look at the stationary and go on and on about how cute it is. Well, if your sending your friends snail mail you have the perfect excuse to actually buy the stationary this time!
Handwriting things are so much more personal.
You now someone really took the time to think about you and what they want to say to you if they take the time to hand write a card or letter! That personalization makes the receiver so much more special!
Do y'all send snail mail? Do you love it?  Do you want to try it? Let me know in the comments!
Blogger Interview: Brooke S.
Brooke is the blogger behind The Pink Lyme. She's a college student with a vibrant personality and is all about female empowerment. Read below to find out more about her!
~~~

Why did you start blogging?

I began blogging mainly because a field hockey injury that affected my knees prevented me from wearing cute, fashionable clothing (no heels, and jeans would have too much compression on my knees!), so I decided I would write about fashion, instead. Eventually, though, I realized I wanted to write about more than just fashion, so it transformed into a "lifestyle"-type blog. However, my injury, although it still acts up, is for the most part much much better and now I can jeans almost everyday, and I can even wear heels on occasion! *happydances all around*

Do you have a staple clothing item? If so, what is it?

Hair bows! I swear, I'll still be wearing bows in my hair even when I'm in a nursing home. ~*You're never too old to wear them, for realz!*~

What's your favorite show to binge watch?

House Hunters (you truly can't go wrong with anything on HGTV, though!). Beautiful homes and new locations in each episode allow you to travel without ever having to leave your couch! #couchpotato

Do you have a favorite (or very recent) post you've written on your blog?

The most personal post I have ever written is by far my favorite. Although many of my posts are indeed personal, this post resulted in a lot of readers reaching out to me that my words really resonated with them. For me, that is what blogging is all about! Being able to connect with my readers in some way is my motivation to keep on blogging, even when life gets busy.

What's your favorite quote?

Before I take a big risk -whether applying for an internship or telling a guy that I like him - I always tell myself, "You have nothing to lose... except for your dignity." HAHA!

Blogger Interview: Sophia B.

Sophia is a fashion blogger over at 5th Avenue Urban. She's a down-to-earth girl next door who loves dogs, fashion, coffee, and jammin’ out to loud music in the car. Read below to find out more about her!
~~~
Why did you start blogging?
I started blogging because I have a passion for writing, fashion, and photography. I needed a way to combine the three things I love the most into the one thing I couldn't live without, which is blogging.
Do you have a staple clothing item? If so, what is it?
One of my favorite staple clothing items is a plain chambray shirt. There's so many different ways you can wear them and they're appropriate for every season. Plus, you can dress them up or down depending on where you're going.
What's your favorite TV show to binge watch?
Gossip Girl all the way!
Do you have a favorite (or very recent) post you've written on your blog? If so, link it!
The Single Girl's Guide to Valentines Day
Hey everyone! As we all know, Valentine's Day is right around the corner, and if we're being honest, it's not always the best or most exciting holiday for the single girls out there. But I think it can totally be great for everyone! So today I wanted to write about some things that would make any single girl's Valentines Day the best one yet!
Show you friends some love with a card or text message.
Ladies, Valentine's Day is a great way to tell your friends how much they mean to you. And it's just so simple! You can make them a card and write them a sweet message for very little money or effort and I know any friend would love to receive it. Even more simple- a text message or shoutout on Twitter would also be great way to make sure your friends feel special!
Show you family some love by going out to eat with them.
Something we've always done in my family is that we all go out to eat together on Valentine's Day. It's a great way to make sure everyone feels loved (no matter their relationship status). Who doesn't love good food and family time right?
Show yourself some love by getting yourself a gift.
Maybe there's some new makeup you want. Maybe you go get yourself your favorite chocolate. Maybe you get yourself a few bath bombs at Lush. Whatever it is, it's always nice to treat ourselves a little every once and a while (we all deserve it). So why not take advantage of Valentine's Day to do so?!
Show a stranger some love through More Love Letters
More Love Letters is all about spreading love and encouragement through written letters. There's two ways to do this. Mail a letter to a deserving person who's story is featured on the More Love Letters website. Or write a letter and leave it in a public place for someone to find. Everyone needs love and encouragement and this is a great way to do it! And if you think someone in your life is really deserving of tons of love and encouragement from around the country you can nominate them to be featured on the site! (You can find more information on the More Love Letters website moreloveletters.org)
Also keep in mind that these can be interchangeable! You can get your friends or family a gift. You can go out to eat by yourself if you'd like, there's really no limit!  I hope y'all enjoyed my Single Girl's Guide to Valentine's Day! Comment below what you think or what your Valentine's Day plans are!
Taking A Break In College
Hey everyone! Today I wanted to be honest with y'all. I'm about a month into my second semester of college and I'd be lying if I said its been easy. I have more things going on in my personal life than last semester and some my new classes are requiring a lot of extra time outside of class. I'm someone who's deeply routed in routine, so this drastic change has made me have to find my grove again, if you know what I mean. So throughout all this, I've really found the need to step back and take a break. So that's what I really wanted to talk about today.
Honestly, none of us can do everything- none of us are perfect. The truth is we all burn out eventually. That's why it's so important for us college students to stop take a break. College courses are a lot of work, you have lots of different things going on in our social lives, and you're just trying to figure things out as you go in the process. All of this is really draining. If you keep on going with our lives without taking a break, you're doing yourself a disservice. Your classwork will suffer and your grades may drop. Your relationships will suffer. Your health will suffer. That's why it's so important for us college students to stop and take a break.
Taking a break can look like different things for everyone. Some people enjoy yoga classes, some color, some wrote out scripture, others watch Netflix/Hulu. Whatever it is for you- it's important to know what it is that recharges you and to actually do it! College isn't easy- but we're all capable of doing great- just remember we need some rest too!
I sometimes feel guilty about rest or feel like I shouldn't need it- but that can't be further than the truth. Some time to take a break and rest really helps me to do my best. I believe it will do that for you too!
I hope this helps a college student out there remember to take a break and rest. Feel free to leave in the comments the way or ways you like to relax!
Blogger Interview: Erin S.
Erin is a faith and personal development blogger over at A Life Like the Lilies. You can find her at the Find + Wind Co Twitter parties just about every Tuesday night and her heart for the Lord and encouraging others is just wonderful. Read bellow to learn more about this blogger!
~~~

Why did you start blogging?

I actually started blogging ten years ago! That seems so impossible to say. I have always loved writing, but when I started blogging, it was mainly a way to express my teenage angst. I was just starting to struggle with depression, and there were a lot of things going on in my family, and I didn't really feel like I had a place to share my thoughts and what was on my heart at the time. The blogging world offered me community that I didn't otherwise have. In the years since, my little space has blossomed into something so homey. I couldn't be happier with how the Lord has grown it and me.

Do you have a staple clothing item? If so, what is it?

Oh man. I'm pretty plain jane when it comes to my wardrobe. Lots of neutrals and comfy things. I do love to rock a chambray shirt. There are so many things you can do with it!

What's your favorite TV show to binge watch?

My favorite shows to binge watch are Criminal Minds, Law and Order SVU, The Office, Grey's Anatomy, and Pretty Little Liars (that last one is such a guilty pleasure).

Do you have a favorite (or very recent) blog post? If so, link it!

My latest post is called "Banner Year." It is about learning to live in the truth: that I am the beloved of God. Beloved is my word for the year, so most of my writing will be centered around that.

What's your favorite quote?

I have two! The first is from Flannery O'Connor: "Don’t let me ever think, dear God, that I was anything but the instrument for Your story." The second is from John Steinbeck: "And now that you don't have to be perfect, you can be good."
