Easter Weekend + Instagram Feed

Hey everyone! This past weekend (Easter weekend) I had Friday off for Good Friday. I wanted with y'all what I did to celebrate Easter and how I spent the weekend! This is also kind of like an Instagram Feed/ Update post as well, because I did Instagram all of the things I wanted to share with y'all today. So here is goes...

On Friday, we went to the Easter worship experience at Elevation church! It was amazing! I talked about it on Easter in my Happy Easter post! Click on the title to read what I had to say! I also cut my hair, as you all probably know from the caption. I just love how it looks! I needed a sight change, and this was perfect.

A photo posted by Faith Allyn Dumais (@faith_allyn_dumais) on
I also took on a DIY project this weekend! I made my own tassel garland out of tissue paper. It was pretty easy and I think it's so cute. I just followed this YouTube video and I think it worked out great! Let me know if you give this DIY a try for yourself, I'd love to see other people's tassel garlands.

For Easter, my parents got my the Breaking Free bible study book by Beth Moore (I actually asked for it!), some yummy chocolate, and a mini mirrored tray. All of these gifts were great, and I'm so thankful for them. However, I also never forgot why we were actually celebrating Easter in the first place; the Resurrection of Jesus.

I hope you all enjoyed a look at my weekend and my Instagram! Would you like to see more from my Instagram here on Faith's Girly Life? Let me know! Remember you can always follow me on Instagram @faith_allyn_dumais

Happy Easter

Hey everyone! Happy Easter! I really just wanted to take a little time today to remember the reason we celebrate Easter- Jesus. I want to remind myself, and anyone else needing the reminder, that Jesus Christ died on the Cross for us, and not because we deserved it, but because of His love.

John 11:25 + 26  reads "I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die."

Matthew 28:6a reads "He is not here; for He has risen, just as he said."

Those are two of my favorite verses about the Resurrection of Jesus Christ! I also wanted to share a little bit from our Easter worship experience at Elevation church. Pastor Steven preached from 1 Peter 1:3-12 and John 20: 1-8. These are both eye witness accounts of the empty tomb Jesus had been buried in. Pastor Steven preached about A Tomb with a View. He talked a lot about perspective and  wanted to highlight the Results of Resurrection. With that he gave us three points

1. A new level of Praise. The Resurrection makes the praise personal and its a praise that is strong even when things aren't exactly going right. It's a Saturday praise he called it, because it easy to praise on Sunday when everything is good. He also told us that it's not about how you praise God but why you praise God.

2. A new proof of Power. He told us that it isn't what happens to us but how we handle it. He set me free with the idea that traumatic doesn't have to stay traumatic. It's not the event- it's the experience.

3. A new Point of View. He told us that we have to view our lives from the empty tomb and that it won't make any sense to us if we try to see it from the outside looking in. He reminded us that the tomb Jesus arose from wasn't just any tomb, it was special. God is inviting everyone inside, and if we can see our lives from the tomb, we see it from a point of view of victory. He reminded us that because the stone was rolled away, nothing stands between us and God.

One of my favorite things Pastor Steven said was that The Resurrection is more than just an event- it's a perspective. So that's how I want to live my life. I want to trust that God will make all things new. I want to be expectant of the amazing things God has yet to make happen in my life. I want to live knowing I'm a new creation; and I hope you do too.

Blogger Interview: Ivy

Ivy is the blogger behind Perfectly Ambitious. She's a wife, creator, and photographer. Her blog is filled with everything she loves! Read below to find out more about this super sweet blogger!
~~~
Why did you start blogging?
I started Perfectly Ambitious for multiple reasons. You can read all of them here (Link: http://perfectlyambitious.blogspot.com/2016/01/perfectly-ambitious.html ), but I mainly wanted to talk about my life as a spoonie. I realized that many people that aren't in the spoonie community, don't really know about us or how to treat us. I was inspired by a few other spoonie bloggers, to start my blog. I hope that my blog is able to shed light on my community and help others understand us. If you don't know what a spoonie is, you can learn about us here (Link: http://perfectlyambitious.blogspot.com/2016/02/what-is-spoonie.html ).
Do you have a staple clothing item? If so, what is it?
I don't exactly have a staple clothing item, but I'm always supporting a handmade artist in some way. Before I started my blog, I started my handmade shop Charmed by Simplicity (Link: http://charmedbysimplicity.storenvy.com/ ). I was introduced to a lot of other handmade sellers, and now I always try to support them. I know how hard it is to make a living with a handmade shop, so I always shop small. Some of my favorite etsy shops are Simplywrapped shop (Link: https://www.etsy.com/shop/SimplyWrappedShop ), Humming Jewels (Link: https://www.etsy.com/shop/HummingJewels ), and Swallow the Sun (Link: https://www.etsy.com/shop/SwallowTheSunDesign ).
What's your favorite TV show to binge watch?
This is such a hard question! Honestly, since I work from home, I am up to date with about 20 TV shows. When it comes to binge watching though I've got three top shows: Law & Order: SVU, NCIS, and NCIS:LA. I watched all the crime shows when I was younger, and I still do the same, I've just narrowed it down a little more. :) Of course I cant forget, I binge watch every new season of Orange is the New Black.
Do you have a favorite post you've written on your blog?
Another hard one! I've got a lot of favorites, for a lot of different reasons, but I'll go with my most recent :) My most recent is titled 75 Things I Wish I Learned in High School (Link: http://perfectlyambitious.blogspot.com/2016/02/75-things-i-wish-i-learned-in-high.html ), and it's pretty self-explanatory. There are many life skills that I wish had been taught during high school...being an adult is hard sometimes.
What's your favorite quote?
"Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own." Matthew 6:34 Anxiety is something I deal with daily, and I love to use this quote to remind myself I don't have to worry. I even started a series on my blog dedicated to it, each month I pick a verse of encouragement and create a free printout for my readers. You can check out January's here (Link: http://perfectlyambitious.blogspot.com/2016/01/januarys-verse-of-encouragement.html ), and February's here (Link: http://perfectlyambitious.blogspot.com/2016/02/februarys-verse-of-encouragement-2016.html ).
The Successful College Student Workbook
Hey everyone! So I need to share something with y'all- this semester has been super crazy for me. I didn't realize how much being a college student really takes out of you. Sometimes I need some strategies or help to make my college experience a success.
I am all about sharing things I enjoy and that I can learn something from with y'all. And this is no different! Today I wanted to tell y'all all about something that's great for all college students -or soon to be college students! Tori of Chase The Write Dream has come up with a workbook called The Successful College Student workbook.
I have just begun working through this workbook- but I can already tell it's full of greatness!
The workbook allows you to work through a few of the different aspects of college life that give us the most trouble. Topics range from your morning routine to your study schedule to getting better grades. There's tips, how to's, and thought provoking questions all throughout the workbook.
I have found the morning routine section to be really great for me. I usually enjoy mornings, but they can be a bit scattered for me. I even forget stuff at home from time to time. So this workbook will help me come up with a specific morning routine to follow. It's something I've really been able to stick to as well. Starting off your morning is so important!
College is hard- we all know that. This workbook is here to help make it a little bit easier. You'll learn so much about your self as a student and learn so much about how to make your college experience a success.
To learn even more about this wonderful workbook and find the answers to some FAQ's- check out what Tori herself said about it here-
To purchase the workbook- follow the link here- https://gumroad.com/a/208942195. It's a PDF that you'll be able to download right after purchase!
Let me know if you decided to get The Successful College Student workbook! I hope you all get as much out of the workbook as I  am!
Disclaimer: I am an affiliate for The Successful College Student workbook and will receive a small percentage of all purchases made through the purchase link above. However, I ensure that all opinions that are expressed in this post are 100% my own.
Blogger Interview: Savannah
Savannah is the blogger behind Always, S. She's a super sweet and super relatable in all her posts. I seriously would love to meet her sometime soon (no joke- HAHA!) Her blog is full of posts about college, travel, and so much more! Read below to learn more about this blogger!
~~~

Why did you start blogging?

I started blogging in July 2014 before I went to Canada for a film project so I could keep up with family. A month later, I moved 4 hours away from home to go to college, and the blog stuck! I kept blogging because I found such a great community and support system online through Facebook groups, Twitter chats, etc. Its so great to know I'm not alone in my college struggles!

Do you have a staple clothing item? If so, what is it?

Hmm...do leggings and a t shirt count? ;) But actually I would say boots. I have SO. MANY. pairs of boots. I make an excuse to wear them with every outfit for every occasion!

What's your favorite TV show to binge watch?

How to Get Away with Murder is my FAVORITE right now! Its so thrilling and mysterious. My roommate and I watch it together. We finished the first season in two days

Do you have a favorite, or very recent, post you've written on your blog? If so, link it!

I went through a lot last semester (Fall 2015) - a hard breakup, a move, and a stressful class schedule. I wrote about being intentional and not being afraid to show the good, the bad, and the ugly. The post goes behind the scenes of my Instagram and talks about how you can live a life with intention: http://thealwaysblog.com/intentional

What's your favorite quote?

I have two favorites! "What is done in love is done well" and "Be who you needed when you were younger."

My Favorite YouTubers

Hey everyone! Today I really wanted to share a few of my favorite YouTubers and YouTube Channels with y'all today. Check out their channels and I hope you enjoy them as much as I do!

I just love Estée! Her videos are always amazing and she just seems like such a genuine and funny person! She's actually currently working on writing a book called Bloom that I'm so excited to read!

Andréa is another YouTuber I just love! Not just the typical beauty videos, she includes affordable brands like E.L.F, and goes fitness/health related videos from time to time.

Bianca is another beauty/fashion YouTuber I enjoy watching. She always has really awesome hauls and I just love that she shares so much of her life in her vlogs and such! I actually graduated high school with her and was in student council with her- she is such a sweet person as well!

Rachel's videos are always so informative and fun! She is super honest about her thoughts on products and always has interesting content (like her Pintrest Hacks videos!) She seems like such a planner and organizer which I love & the pictures I've seen of her two kids are adorable!

Meghan is the perfect combination of comedy and beauty. She's always cracking jokes in her hauls and favorites! But her more comedic videos (like her one about old Tinder messages) are just hilarious. I think she really stays true to herself in videos!

Tiffany's makeup videos are always so cool because she takes products and really shows how she uses them in her life. Sometimes it seems like people buy these higher end products and just throw them in a drawer, she really puts them to use! Plus all her stuff about her daughter is so cute!

Now this channel is much different than the others I talked about. These two brothers Niki and Sammy have the funniest videos! Any time I need a good laugh their videos don't disappoint! Thier from London and twin brothers-and that's perfect if you ask me!

The Prodigal Father

Hey everyone! While a church meeting the other day, we heard a teaching on the parable of the Prodigal Son. Many people know the story. Many people have heard sermons on the story. However, this time around, the focus was placed not on the son but on the father. I really enjoyed the teaching we received from our eKidz (our children's ministry) director, so I really wanted to share my take away with y'all! I think this is something that could be really great for people!

Hey everyone! Today I wanted to share with you a new magazine I've discovered! Holl and Lane magazine is all about giving a voice to the stories that often go untold. It includes a wide range of stories and articles that all pertain to many women's lives.

Today I'm specifically going to be talking about their newest issue; Issue 6!

I just love the color and pictures included in the magazine. They are so gorgeous! I only wish my pictures included in this post did them justice!

I also really enjoy the mix of many different things from travel and recipes to real and raw stories that need to be heard. I especially loved the Ten Songs for Following Your Passion piece! However, that isn't the only great article in the magazine. Each piece is so beautifully done and the wide range of topics can assure that everyone can find something they love in this magazine!

The quotes throughout were so well thought out and inspiring as well. It seems like just a little touch- but it goes such a long way! You can just tell each quote was put in to truly encourage the reader!

This magazine is so beautiful and inspiring. Each page after the next offers another bit of wonderful, another article to enjoy, another colorful picture to look at. Overall, I recommend this magazine to any woman!

Being a Girly Girl

The Hey everyone! So this may not come as a surprise (considering the name of my blog) but I'm a total girly girl and really always have been. So I thought it'd be fun to talk about what I believe it means to be a girly girl! So here is goes- Being a girly girl means...

The color pink is always #1.
It's safe to say I have an obsession with pink- but I admit it and am totally ok with it!

There's no such think as too much glitter.
Come one, the more the glitter the better right?!

Starbucks with your gal pals is always a good idea.
There's  just something about having a Starbucks cup in hand with one of your friends that is just the epitome of fun.

Just because my knowledge of sports is minimal, doesn't mean I can't join in the fun.
Yes, I do love going to football, basketball, soccer, volleyball, and very hockey games- even if I'm not 100% sure what's going on.

There's just something about a French manicure that makes a girl feel like a million dollars.
Any time I get my nails done I opt for the French manicure- it's just too resistible to pass up!

Zumba is the best way to workout.
Dancing over lifting weights every single time

Leggings are pants.
Point blank. No questions asked.

I'll always say yes to chocolate.
If there's chocolate in it, you can be sure I'm willing to try it.

So are you a girly girl? Let me know in the comments!

Letting Go of High School Insecurity

Hey everyone! Today I wanted to talk about something that's been so important to me during my freshman year of college- letting go of high school insecurity.

When I was in high school I was highly sensitive to what others said to me and what I believed others opinions of me were. I found my self deeply affected by the words of the people around me- no matter if the words were good or bad-positive or negative.

And as we probably know, high school kids aren't always the nicest people. So I was around my fair share of negativity- even some I created myself if I'm being truly honest. This left me feeling really insecure through out my senior year. I felt like maybe I didn't have any true friends after all. I felt like maybe I wasn't good enough after all. I felt like maybe the college I had chosen and the major I was pursuing wouldn't ever matter. I felt like maybe I'd always feel over stressed.

But this past year I've really been digging deep and letting go of that high school insecurity. Because in college you're no longer defined by what you did, who you were, or even who you were around in high school. That fact is truly liberating. When you get college, it's less about the competition and more about all going through it all together. You have full control over the people you talk to and the people you don't.

I've learned I have become more myself this school year alone than I had in all 4 years of my high school career. I've learned that my best is good enough. I've learned that I can make friends and that they are more supportive than I've ever imagined. I've learned that around every corner is an experience that renews my passion for teaching.

I've decided to be deeply rooted in positively rather than let negativity control me. Now, this isn't to say I don't have a long way to go- but look how far I've come.

So to anyone still in high school struggling with insecurity or those out of high school still working through the process- have hope. You aren't defined by those insecurities. Be confident in the amazing person you know you are. Let it go.

John 8:12

"I am the light of the world. Anyone who follows Me will never walk in darkness but will have the light of life." -John 8:12

I came across this verse through the She Reads Truth Instagram account. I was not following their study at the time, but this was their weekly truth that they were challenging ladies to memorize. I instantly loved it.

This is Jesus himself taking and I see it as an invitation for all of us to walk with Him and to follow Him. However, it goes even deeper than that I believe. Not only is He inviting us to walk with Him, He's giving us the opportunity to walk in the light only He provides and casts out any darkness that may try to consume us. All we have to do is follow him. There's no additional rules or instructions in this verse. "Anyone who follows Me..." it says.

The light of the world is for you as long as you follow Jesus. I am so deeply comforted by the fact that it's no more complicated than that. Isn't it great to know that the light doesn't come with a long list of prerequisites? There's no if this, than there will be no more darkness. There's no first get your act together, than you walk in the light. You just follow Jesus.

I pray that brings hope to someone else today. I pray someone is reminded of this invitation and it's simple instruction today. Leaving the darkness and walking in light only requires that you follow Him.

Blogger Interview: Rachel M.

Rachel is the blogger behind Seashells + Sparkles. She's a college student with consistently sassy tweets and a love for reading and puppies. Read below to learn more about this blogger!
~~~
Why did you start blogging?
I wish I could tell you some awesome story, but there isn't one. Basically, I started blogging when I was home on winter break from college and wasn't working. I needed to find a creative and productive way to spend my time, so after reading blogs, online publications, and websites, I decided that I wanted to give blogging a chance. I'm glad I gave it that chance, too, because I've learned so much from the experience and it's now one of my favorite things!
Do you have a staple clothing item? If so, what is it?
I have a few accessories that I rely on on a day-to-day basis - my Kate Spade watch (it's seriously adorable!), a bracelet given to me by my parents, and two rings (one from my grandmother for my confirmation + the other is my grandfathers monogrammed ring!). Other than that, I don't necessarily have a "staple" item, but I absolutely love my black J. Crew d'Orsay flats, totally worth the money! (I also have them in a cobalt blue - I told you, I love them)
What's your favorite TV show to binge watch?
Currently, NCIS. But some of my favorites are Friends, Gossip Girl, the Chicago series (Chicago PD, Fire + Med), as well as Grey's Anatomy (because, duh!) and Sex In The City!
Do you have a favorite post you've written on your blog? If so, link it!
My absolute favorite post, to this day, is All The Single Ladies: It's OK to be the Single One. I have always and am always the single one out of my group of friends, and I'm totally OK with it. I had a bad break-up a few years ago and after that, I vowed that I would date myself (focus on me and focus on school) while I finished college. But hey, I graduate in May, so we'll see who I start dating afterwards *wink wink*
What's your favorite quote?
Hm..... I'm not a huge quote person. I like them, but I never can remember any that are substantial, so I'll have to go with anything Carrie Bradshaw-related. Love Carrie, she's the best.
5 Ways to Make the Most of Your Spring Break "Staycation"
Visit http://www.ncprepsters.com/ to see the other posts in the link up!
Hey everyone! Today I'm taking about Spring Break as part of a Spring Break link up hosted by Olivia of NC Prepsters. So this is my first spring break as a college student, but I'm being real with y'all- I have no huge plans to vacation this year. However, that doesn't mean I can't make the most of my "staycation" Spring Break! And I think you can make the most of yours too if you are staying home this year! So below I've got 5 ways to make the most of your Spring Break Staycation! The first 3 are a little more active while the last 2 area little more for the person looking for some relaxation so I think I've got something for everyone!
Have a "Girl's Weekend"
You're bound to find a friend without Spring Break plans- so have her spend a few days at your house with you! Even if it's not actually Saturday and Sunday it would be so fun to have a little "girls weekend." This also has endless possibilities of what you could do together! Maybe you can do a few things I mention below, maybe you can cook together, maybe you can go out to eat! No matter what you do together, this is one great way to make the most of your "Staycation."
Workout
Now if I'm being honest, sometimes workouts fall by the wayside when school is in session. We're all busy right, and sometimes something's go to give! But Spring Break is a great way to either cleanse or get back on track. This is also open to a lot of different options! You can attend a Zumba or cycling class. You can take a walk or go for a run. You can find some great workouts on Fitness Blender!
Do a DIY or craft project
I'll get into these crafty moods sometimes where I'll just love to craft! I've even blogged about some of my projects in the past so here is a list of links to all crafts I've featured on Faith's Girly Life...
Pumpkin Painting
Journal Prompt Jar
DIY: Button Bookmarks
Canvas Art
But if getting super crafty isn't you're think- maybe coloring in a little coloring book would be the perfect creative outlet for you!
Binge watch your favorite TV series
Come on, we all have those TV shows we'll spend all  day watching and never be bored. Spring Break is a good time to get some binge watching done because you more than likely won't have any school work you'd have to make sure it all together. It's perfect if you're someone who needs to just chill out and rest during your time off!
Read that book you've been wanting to read
Here's another idea for people who need their rest and need to recharge! If you're into books, Spring Break is a great time to go some good reading. Now, I know this one isn't for everyone, I myself do a lot of reading for school, so sometimes I like to give it a rest. However, I do know some people really love to read and so do I at the end of the day, if I find the right book. I think this is still a great option to make the most of your "Staycation." I actually have a few books I might try to read this year during my time off!
I hope you enjoyed these ideas! What do you think of them? Do you have any more "Staycation" suggestions? Let me know in the comments and be sure to check out the other posts in the Spring Break Link Up by going to Olivia's blog (http://www.ncprepsters.com/)
My 6 Fun Activities
Hey everyone! Today I thought it would be fun to talk a little bit about my favorite activities. I love sharing who I am with y'all! So it's time to share my 5 fun activities!
Going out to eat with friends/family
I'm the daughter of two self proclaimed foodies. So it's no surprise that I just love to eat with people I care about! It such a great way to connect with and catch up with friends and family. I just love meeting up with friends to grab lunch between classes and every chance I get to have dinner with my family is so important to me.
Getting Starbucks
Whether it be some quiet time alone, with my gal pals, or during a Target trip with my mom & sister- there's just something about getting some Starbucks makes me  happy!
Zumba classes
I find them so fun! I've actually even written an entire blog post including 5 reasons I love them! If you're interested in that check it out here
Blogging
Of course I love blogging! I love writing. I love taking pictures. I love sharing and interacting with my readers. I just hope y'all enjoy my blog as much as I enjoy putting it together! So far in 2016 I have really felt very re-motivated when it comes to my blog and have even been doing some things to grow my blog. The most prominent is the Blogger Interview series that I've added to my blog!  I think y'all will see some great things to come on Faith's Girly Life!
College sporting events
Since starting college last fall, I've really taken advantage of free/ cheap tickets to sporting events! I've been to football, women's soccer, volleyball, men's basketball, and women's basketball! I've also got plans to attend a club hockey game and a men's tennis game later in the semester! It's so fun learning about the different sports and cheering on my 49ers.
Working through Bible studies
Lately I've loved going through different bible studies and digging deeper into the Bible. I've used She Reads Truth for just under a year and I am still working though Open Your Bible by Lifeway. These are both great and I'd even like to find some more to do. I find it a great way to spend quiet time and I also think it's been so beneficial for my relationship with the Lord
Now I want to know what your favorite activities are! What do you like to do?
XOXO
