Blogger Interview: Chelsea

Chelsea is the blogger behind Chow Down USA, a great food, fashion, and lifestyle blog! Read bellow to learn more about this blogger!

Why did you start blogging?
Back in San Francisco where I'm from originally, my friends and I were stuck in a routine of going to the same restaurants over and over. We realized this was silly because SF has SO many amazing restaurants! So we decided to branch out and try tons of different restaurants, and I documented everything on a blog! At the time I literally had no idea about the entire blogging community, and I'm so grateful to be a part of it now!

Do you have a staple clothing item? If so, what is it?
I think I go through staple phases. Right now I wear this white and gray window pane scarf almost everywhere, since it goes with everything and it's still pretty chilly in Boston!

What's your favorite TV show to binge watch?
I am completely obsessed with The Office and Parks & Recreation, I've watched them probably 5 times over at least! I'm currently binge watching Girls which is also really good!

Do you have a favorite post you've written on your blog? If so, link it! (it can just be your most recent post if you don't have a favorite!)
I'm super proud of my recent birthday post featuring a hot pink shift dress from The Mint Boutique (link: I've wanted to work with the Mint for a long time so I was beyond excited when they reached out to me!

What's your favorite quote?
Follow your dreams, not your fears.

Blogger Interview: Alison

Alison is the blogger behind Beauty and Blazers. She is a super sweet Christian who I have loved getting to know better! Read bellow to learn more about this blogger!

Why did you start blogging?
I started blogging after a cousin of mine started her blog. I had always wanted to have a YouTube channel or website of some sort so after seeing her's and researching blogging a little more, I went ahead and started Beauty & Blazers! It's been about 3 years now since I started!

Do you have a staple clothing item? If so, what is it?
I don't know if I really have a staple! I like to wear a little bit of everything (If I'm being honest I'm usually too lazy to wear anything but jeans and a long-sleeve), but I have a pair of black booties that I'm absolutely obsessed with. I also love sweaters and anything flannel.

What's your favorite TV show to binge watch?
Oh my goodness gracious there are SO many. I watched Grey's Anatomy on Netflix a few months ago and literally couldn't stop. I'm also a big fan of Downton Abbey, Jane the Virgin, and Gilmore Girls (no, but really I have watched this show over and over and never get tired of it).

Do you have a favorite, or very recent,  post you've written on your blog?
I can't pick just one favorite, but I recently wrote a post about Alzheimer's Disease and a new form of treatment for it that I did a research project on. It isn't like my usual content, but it means a lot to me because my grandmother has Alzheimer's. You can find it here:

Blogger Interview: Cristina

Cristina is the blogger behind Cristina Was Here, an amazing life and style blog! She's so nice and knowledgeable! Read bellow to learn more about her!

Why did you start blogging?
I had always been involved in something growing up. I started dancing when I was 3 and started competing when I was 10. It kept me super busy and it was something I was really passionate about. When I graduated high school in May 2014, I felt kind of lost without being in dance or choir (I did that for a couple years, too) anymore. I loved writing and had always though I wanted to be an author. By 18, my career dreams had changed, but writing was still something that I was passionate about and I started thinking of how I could get back to it. I loved reading fashion and lifestyle blogs, so I decided to give it a try! It's been the best decision I've ever made.

Do you have a staple clothing item? If so, what is it?
I bought a chambray button down from Forever 21 about 4 years ago. It's that shirt that always seems to fit me no matter what! It's lost a button twice, but I just keep sewing them back on because I don't want to let it go, haha. I wear it tucked into skirts, relaxed with leggings, or underneath sweaters.

What's your favorite TV show to binge watch?
Gossip Girl. I've seen the seasons 7 times through. (No exaggeration.) If you describe a scene, I can tell you exactly what episode it is from with the episode name, plot, and season it belongs to. Someone once told me I looked like Blair Waldorf and I cried.

Do you have a favorite, or very recent, post you've written on your blog?
I recently did a post on some productivity hacks, and I had so much fun writing it. I'm super type-A, so getting to be my nerdy, organized self in a post was pretty fun. >>

What's your favorite quote?
"She believed she could so she did."

4 Tips to Make it to the End of the Semester

Hey everyone! Most of you in college are coming super close to the end of the semester- yay! And most of you in high school are nearing the home stretch as well. So today I really wanted to talk about how I'm coping and making it to the end of the semester. It isn't easy- but I promise it's possible! So I'm going to share some of my tips that I've definitely been using lately!

Make Separate To Do lists
If you have multiple big assignments doing on at the same time and if their due dates are coming up around the same time- like papers or presentations, it's a good idea to make a separate To Do list for each assignment. This is good for a few reasons. First, it shows you exactly what you have to get done to make sure the project is completed on time and also makes it difficult to forget any little (but important) detail. Secondly, it breaks the big assignments into little steps so it becomes more manageable and less daunting.

Utilize Down Time
If we're being honest, we actually have more down time than we think we do. So it's a good idea to make the most of it! Instead of using that time to binge watch a TV show (don't worry-I do it too) you can sit in bed with your favorite music or podcast and work an assignment. It takes away the stress of the situation, but you're still getting something done!

Go to the Library
If you haven't realized yet that the campus library is your best friend- you need to! It's such a great places to go and get your stuff done because everyone else is doing the same thing! There's a ton of different options at the library too. If you like to work with a group- there's totally room for that. But if you want to be by yourself- a lot of library have silent rooms or independent study rooms.

Take Time for Yourself
Amongst all the craziest and business that comes along with the end of the semester- don't forget that you need to take time for yourself. It's ok to watch an episode of your favorite TV show. It's ok to get Starbucks with you friend. It's ok to go to a Zumba class. What ever taking time for yourself looks like- never forget that it's important. I actually wrote a whole blog post called Taking a Break in College, where I talk al about how important "me time" and taking a break is for college students. Click the title to check it out!

I hope thee tips help everyone end the semester on a high note! Do you have any tips to add? Let me know!

Changing Your Outlook on Working Out

Hey everyone! Today I really wanted to talk about something that's really important to me, but it also something I still really struggle with- my outlook on working out. So when you read what I have to say, don't forget you are not alone! We are all in this together. I'm writing these words for me just as much as I am for you.

Sometimes I look at working out as a hassle, a burden, or something I don't actually want to do. But the problem with this view on working out is that it stifles any growth or success you could reach.  I have found that if working out is seen as a burden, it's inconsistent. (Tweet This!) You'll make excuses not to go. You won't try as hard some days at the gym as you do on other days. And if you aren't consistent with working out, you aren't going to see any results.

I have found that if working out is seen as a burden, it's not fun. (Tweet This!) You are supposed to have fun while working out! It should be something you enjoy. It should be something that you get to do not something you want to do. And if you aren't having fun, you'll miss out on half of the benefit of working out; that it makes you feel good.

So what do you do about this attitude toward working out? You change it.
You have to look at working out as a "get to" and not a "have to." You have to look at working out as a gift to yourself rather than a burden your enduring. You have to remind yourself of the accomplishment you'll feel and not the tiredness. Your motivation has to be intrinsic. Working out has to be something you do for yourself and no one else. If you change your outlook on working out, you'll see results and it will be fun.

So who's with me? Are you ready to change your outlook on working out?

4 Reasons You Should Blog In College

Hey everyone! I was inspired by Rachel's post on Sea Shells + Sparkles called 5 Reasons Why Every Twenty-Something Should Start A Blog for today's post! I want to share some reasons with you why I think you should blog during your college years.

You can document your life through blogging.
A blog is a great way to share about what's happening in your life with anyone and everyone. I know this is possible with social media, but publishing a blog post is another super fun way to do it that people sometimes forget. Some examples of this would be my Travel Journals (Wilmington, NC linked), Fall Break Recap, and Birthday Brunch- Fahrenheit Charlotte.

You can process your life through blogging.
College can be hard sometimes and difficult things happen sometimes. A blog offers you a creative outlet to either get your mind off of that thing- or process it through writing about it. Some examples of this would be my blog posts Taking a Break in College, which was written when I felt really overwhelmed and needed a break myself, and Here and Now, written over the summer before I went to college when I was trying to put any negativity from high school behind me.

You can meet knew people through blogging.
Of course you meet people on campus, but it's also great to know people from different places an different stages of life through the blogging community. I've met some super great girls through blogging that I really enjoy chatting with online and even sending them snail mail! College an be hard sometimes so you need a lot of people in your corner. And I don't think there's a such thing as too many friends. Blogging is a great way to meet more!

You have something fun to look forward to with blogging.
Lets me honest, not everything that comes along with college is fun. Student loans aren't fun. Papers aren't fun. Meetings with advisors aren't fun. However, a blog can be an outlet you can always come back to and always look forward to. It can be one thing in your life you know for sure will bring you joy. Having that it super important for anyone in college!

Are you a college student blogger? Do you feel like others should do the same? Let me know!

Blogger Interview: Danielle

Danielle is a blogger over at The Sparkling Southerner. She's from Georgia and love everything with glitter and fashion. She even has hopes to become a surgeon! Read below to learn more about this blogger.

Why did you start blogging?
I started getting really interested in Instagram and I started following other people with awesome accounts. I noticed that they had blogs and started reading their blogs! I thought it was such a fascinating thing and wanted to find more about it. I always loved positing outfit photos but I wanted to make it more in depth! People are always asking me where I got my clothes or jewelry so this was the perfect way to answer those questions by being like oh go to my blog I talk about it there. It just became a hobby and now it's really starting to kick off!

Do you have a staple clothing item? If so, what is it?
My closet has been changing over time and I feel like for every season my staple item changes. I am in school in Mass so it's not as warm as back home in Atlanta so my staple item until it gets warmer is my white puffer vest from JCrew. For more warmer spring weather my favorite staple item is this bright floral top that I just got. I feel like everyone needs bright colors this spring and florals are really fun to showcase those colors.

What's your favorite TV show to binge watch?
I've been trying to finish Vampire a diaries but I actually just started watching a really old tv show called A different world that I saw as a child but never saw every episode. It's because I was young and the characters were in college so sometimes it was confusing to understand what the serious drama and issues that were going on in the show.

Do you have a favorite (or very recent) post you've written on your blog? If so, link it!
I recently did a post that included murals. Actually the next couple of my posts will feature really awesome murals from Atlanta. I'm trying to spread them out so I don't run out of them because they are so special to me! Post linked here.

What's your favorite quote?
"Throw kindness like confetti!"
