Travel Journal: Cape Lookout National Seashore

Hey everyone! This is the 3rd post in my 4 post series about my family vacation! First, I blogged about Havelock, NC (check out the post here). Secondly, I blogged about New Bern, NC (check out the post here). I hope your enjoying these blog posts! I really enjoy sharing it with y'all! Today I'm sharing my experience at Cape Lookout National Seashore.

So this post does require a bit of a back story. We originally planed to take a boat tour of Cape Lookout and Shackleford Island that left from Beaufort, NC. However, when we got to the boating company they told us that the water was much too rough and choppy to go on the 2 and a half hour boat ride. So we drove to Harker's Island to take a short ferry to Cape Lookout instead.

I tell ya'll this story because these first two pictures were taken in Beaufort.

The Beaufort waterfront!

Snapping a selfie as we're getting out of the car!

Now the pictures following are from Cape Lookout.

We took yet another selfie while we waited to get on the ferry in Harker's Island to head to Cape Lookout.

Here's a selfie on the ferry. If you haven't noticed yet, this rip was super selfie filled!

We were getting ready to dock at Cape Lookout so I wanted to take a picture of the water!

You can see the light house in the distance!

More water pictures of course because I always think it's so pretty!

We didn't climb the light house, but we were sure to grab a picture with it!

We spent sometime on the beach while we were at Cape Lookout. It was gorgeous but super windy!

One quick story I have to share- we were waiting to get on the ferry to leave Cape Lookout and we were standing on the dock getting ready to get in the boat and all of a sudden my dad's hat (his Bronco's Superbowl hat oh course) flew into the water. Luckily we were able to get the hat once we were all on the boat. The driver was able to pull up besides it and another passenger was able to grab it. Super nice people!

We had to get a picture together on the beach!

So we stopped again in Beaufort for lunch at this super small BBQ place. It was very simple food but tasted pretty good!

I hope you enjoyed part 3 of my vacation happenings! Checkout the post on Havelock here and the post on New Bern here if you've missed either of them!

Travel Journal: New Bern, NC

Hey everyone! Today I'm showing you the pictures from part two of my family vacation! In the first post I showed d y'all what we did in Havelock (check out that post here if you missed it!). But today I'm sharing about the day trip we took to New Bern. We basically just walked around for a while and grabbed some lunch. I hope you enjoy seeing part 2 of my vacation happenings!

According to the sign on this building- it's City Hall- however, I don't actually know anything about it. I just thought it was cute enough to snap a picture!

This is a cute little ally or courtyard while walking around. It's so adorable I just had to take a picture.

So, the real reason we went to New Bern is because we wanted to visit the pharmacy where Pepsi was invented (pictured above). We went to World of Coke a few years ago in Atlanta, so it was fun to see another soda gem in the USA.

This cute table was inside so I wanted to get a picture of it. I know #bloggerprobs.

We also went to this fudge shop called Bear City Fudge Company and we decided to try these truffles above. I'm a huge chocolate fan so obviously I thought that they were really good! We also got two chocolate covered pretzels I didn't get a picture of.

The man working at the fudge shop recommended MJ's for lunch- so we headed straight there! It turned out to be awesome!

Here's a shot of everyone's lunch from that day. We all had super yummy seafood!

Here's a picture of the Catfish, fries, and fruit I had for lunch at MJ's it was all super good!

We also got to go by the water front in New Bern so Hailey and I had to snap a picture together!

I thought the water deserved a picture of it's own because it's so beautiful!

I hope you enjoyed post 2 of my vacation happenings...look at Havelock, NC here if you missed it and keep your eyes open for the next post on Cape Lookout National Seashore!

Travel Journal: Havelock, NC

Hey everyone! You may have noticed (or seen one of my tweets about it) that I didn't blog at all the past week. I went on vacation with my family and we didn't have Wi-Fi and were living off of our cellphone data package. But I'm so excited to be back on Faith's Girly Life. I'm going to share a TON of pictures from our vacation! Because I have so much I want to share with y'all I'm going to separate everything into 4 different blog posts based on location basically. The first one (aka the post your currently reading) will be about Havelock. That's where our rental house was so we spent a little bit of time hanging out there and even ate at an awesome restaurant not far from the house. The next one is going to be about our day trip to New Bern. The third will be about our day at Cape Lookout National Seashore. And lastly, the fourth blog post will be about our time in Morehead and Atlantic Beach. I will link to the previous post in each new post so you won't miss anything from my vacation! I hope you enjoy seeing so much of my experience!

Above is a look at our rental house. It was plenty big for my family and our dogs! The downside to this house? It's right next to a wedding venue so on nights they're hosting a wedding- you can hear "Don't Stop Believing" at 11 o'clock at night ;).

This is the super awesome view from the back deck of our house. We were literally right on the Neuse River!

Had to use our deck and awesome view for an Instagram picture right?!

Here's just another picture of our view of the Neuse River. It's a different view than I'm used to so I had to take pictures when I got the chance.

Here's the private dock that goes along with our rental house. It's super awesome! My dad spent some time trying to fish off of it. He caught a few little fish- but nothing to have for dinner unfortunately.

This seafood restaurant- named Crabby Patty's wasn't far from our rental house and the food was super yummy! We ate there twice during our stay and you'll see what I ate there later in the post!

This is the super yummy Shrimp Po Boy I ate the first night we were in Havelock.

We had a hammock on the deck at our rental house so my sister and I spent some time hanging around!

It was National Selfie Day when we were on vacation so we had to use my selfie stick to snap a selfie together!

Hailey and I couldn't resist getting a picture together on the dock!

On our last night in Havelock, we went back to Crabby Patty's. This time I got an amazing crab cake!

We finished our meal with a Molten Chocolate cake that was DELICIOUS!

I also got a picture of the sunset by our house, very pretty of course!

I really hope y'all enjoyed seeing all kinds of pictures on this part of all my vacation blog posts! And be sure to keep an eye out for the other 3 blog posts about my vacation! There's still tons more to see!

My Summer Workout Schedule

Hey everyone! So one thing I love about being out of school for the summer is the fact that I have more time, more energy, and more motivation to workout! With that said, I've been able to come up with a pretty good workout schedule this summer that I want to share with y'all! If I'm being honest, it's been a little difficult to keep up with at times with my schedule during the month of June, I've been nannying a lot- and man that's a lot of work! But I really feel my best when I follow this schedule!

Now, I'm no professional by any means, I have no fitness training at all, I'm just doing what seems to work best for me. I totally understand that this won't work for everyone or if not everyone agrees with this schedule. I just really wanted to hare my workout schedule in the hopes it will help someone or inspire them!

My Summer Workout Schedule is below!

Here's the breakdown in case the graphic above is a little confusing or anything...
Monday- Abs
Tuesday- Legs
Wednesday- Zumba
Thursday- Arms
Friday- Zumba
Saturday- Rest
Sunday- Rest

I've been following this schedule for a little while now and I think it's really been working for me! It's keeping me active but I don't walk around completely exhausted from working out either! If you want to know more about any specific workout (like my leg workout for example) or tips for Zumba classes- let me know in the comments! I can definitely do more posts that go more in detail about my workouts!

3 Ways to Unplug

Hey everyone! So today I wanted to talk to y'all about a few different tricks I've been using to try to unplug from my iPhone more often. I know I'm not perfect with it- I'm pretty attached to my phone (as a blogger I'm always on social media and checking email) but I've been trying to unplug little by little every so often. I find that when I do take some time to unplug- I'm happier, I'm not as drained, and I get more out of the time that I am plugged in. So I hope these tips help you!

Turn off push notifications
I've pretty much turned off all my notifications expect Twitter and Instagram- and I plan to turn them off eventually. I think that these notifications add a ton of clutter to our phones and also have a way of grabbing us back into our phones even if we're trying to unplug. I've noticed a huge difference in my ability to let my phone go since I've turned them off!

Let your phone die- and leave it dead for a bit (or just turn it off)
Mini disclaimer: I only suggest doing this if your at home with someone else. But I think giving your self a little time to be fully without your phone really helps you to realize that it's ok not to be on your phone constantly. This is one I'm still really working on- but I think it's really good and will get even better! Leaving your phone at home when your out with family is a good option too! My family always go to church and out to lunch with my family on Sundays and I've been trying to leave my phone at home during those times.

Keep your phone on "Do Not Disturb"
Sometimes all the beeping from text messages and such can be really distracting- who wouldn't want to look at their phone after they heard it making noise!?- so a good way to unplug you're self a bit is the "Do Not Disturb" feature on an iPhone. It keeps your phone silent and keeps it from buzzing all the time so you can focus on other things! I tend to use this feature 24/7 now and I don't miss the noises at all!

I hope you enjoyed these tips on ways to unplug & let me know in the comments if you have any other ideas!
