Blogger Interview: Hannah

Hannah is the blogger behind Hannah With A Camera. Read below to learn more about this blogger!

Why did you start blogging?
I started blogging in my senior year of high school because I wanted a way to document my life easily while I was growing up. I'd made several blogs before but this is the one that I've been dedicated to since October of 2014! I take a lot of photographs and I've recently started experimenting with video, so I started with posts about my personal life and I've expanded to more lifestyle posts to benefit people.

Do you have a staple clothing item? If so, what is it?
The chambray shirt. I'm currently wearing one of three that I own in a medium wash over a t-shirt. When I'm actually trying to put together an outfit, I'll usually reach for a button-down shirt. The chambray shirt is classic enough that it can match anything and it's lightweight enough to throw on at night.

What's your favorite TV show to binge watch?
Dance Academy! It's an Australian show on Netflix about dancers in a professional training academy/high school. I've seen the whole series at least three times now.

Do you have a favorite, or very recent, post you've written on your blog?
This is my most popular post with over 15,000 all-time views, but this is actually one of my favorite posts that I've written. My most popular post is about organization in high school and it's done super well (thanks Pinterest!), so I've written a lot more school-related posts since. My most favorite post, however, is about my grad party! My mom and my friend's mom put so much time into making it look Pinterest-worthy and gorgeous, and it came together so well.

What's your favorite quote?

“If you have good thoughts they will shine out of your face like sunbeams and you will always look lovely.” -Roahl Dahl

Hey everyone! Today I wanted to take about a new fitness class I tried this summer and pretty much feel in love with! It's called Pound. I kind of want to do a little overview of what it is and also why I like it. So hopefully you have a pretty good idea of what it is and if you want to give it a try yourself! I hope you enjoy a look at this new workout!

What is Pound?
Pound was created by two female drummers who didn't like traditional workout but realized what a great workout they get when their up on stage when their drumming. Pound is basically a mix of Zumba and Pilates- according to the instructor that teaches the classes I take. You hold weighted drum sticks to get a little bit of an arm workout while you do through songs that focus on lunges and squats. In addition, you use a yoga mat to workout your abs and glutes. You move to the beat of fun songs and will speed up and slow down depending on the tempo, which is a lot like a Zumba class. I also like to think that it's a mix of cardio and strength training.

Why do I like Pound?
I like Pound because it's more fun than just doing a bunch of squats or lunges on your own but you're still getting the benefit of them. I enjoy a more cardio and high energy workout and Pound gives a little bit of that to strength training. I like it because you can modify and do more or less depending on your ability level. That makes it more inclusive and allows you to grow and work your way up. I've been going to Pound this summer and I can tell that I have improved and gotten stronger. I think it's so awesome that Pound is a class that allows you to see your progress! You also get to use different equipment, like the drum sticks and yoga matts, that you may not use in other workouts, so that change can be really fun.

Of course I understand that Pound won't be for everyone, but I totally recommend you give it a try if you haven't yet! Have you tried Pound? What do you think?  If you haven't tried it yet, what are your thoughts after reading my post? Let me know in the comments below!

Why did you start blogging?

After discovering and binge-reading a few blogs over summer break, I thought of creating my own pretty much the entire first semester of my sophomore year of high school. I finally decided to take the plunge last March and I haven't looked back since!

Do you have a staple clothing item? If so, what is it?

Oh gosh, it changes season to season but my white Ralph Lauren Oxford is always a favorite. And for summer, I am in either my Jack Rogers or Tory  Burch Miller Sandals 95% of the time!

What's your favorite TV show to binge watch?

Gossip Girl!

Do you have a favorite, or very recent, post you've written on your blog? If so, link it!

I think that this post is my favorite! The pictures for it were taken while on Kiawah Island in South Carolina (which is one of my favorite places in the world) and I'm obsessed with the nautical background! Not to mention, I'm wearing a navy and white striped dress, which is always a great combination in my book!

What's your favorite quote?

Hey everyone! I'll be back in classes at UNC Charlotte next week so today I wanted to share a little but and go into my personal- academic life. If you've been reading Faith's Girly Life for a while you'll probably know that I did not do a post like this during either semester of my freshman year of college, but since I'm getting more specific with the classes I'm taking for my major (Special Education) and my minor (Sociology), I thought it would be a good idea to share with y'all what classes I'll be taking this fall. That way you have a better look into my academics and can ask any related questions you may have!

I'm still not sure if this is a post I will continue to do throughout my college career, I'm basically just trying it out and seeing how y'all like it, so please let me know in the comment or in an email if this is something that you want to continue to see on Faith's Girly Life!

My Fall semester of my sophomore year is focused on finishing up the two general education requirements I have left as well as getting a really good start on my minor in Sociology. I will officially start classes for my major in Special Education in the Spring. By the way- classes I've marked with an * denotes a general education requirement.

5 College Essentials

Hey everyone! I've been a college student for an entire year now so I feel like I'm finally getting a handle on things. Now I've been able to find some things that have really been saving my life, keeping me together, and have made college easier. So as we go into a new semester and new school year- I  really wanted to share my top 5 college essentials; so here they are! Hope you enjoy!

1. A Planner/Agenda
I use the large Lilly Pulitzer agenda. This is such an important thing to make sure you keep your classes and due dates, work and social life all together!

2. Good Pens/Highlighters
I use G2 pens- they're my favorite! I like using pen over pencil for most of my notes because it more permanent and easy to read. I also like highlighters for color coding different types of events in my planner.

3. Starbucks Gift Cards
I'm not gonna lie, my Starbucks obsession has grown a ton since starting college. Having a gift card on had makes the trip to Starbucks go so much more smoothly!

4. A Good Umbrella
I use one I got from UNCC, however, any one will do! Depending on where you go to school, it is likely that it will sometimes rain when your on your way to class, so it's good to have an umbrella to keep you at least a little dry!

5. Water bottles/ Tumbler cups
I have a wide collection of them and love every one. They're great for water, soda, lemonade- anything! It's important to have to stay healthy!

Just a little disclaimer that these may not apply to everyone, but they are things I've really enjoyed and really got a lot of use of as a college student. I find that these things really do make my life easier. To any other college students out there- what are your essentials?

Blogger Interview: Brooke B.

Brooke is the blogger behind Live The Prep Life, where the tag line is "Southern, Preppy, & Classy." Read below to learn more about this blogger!

Why did you start blogging?
I started blogging after stumbling upon a blog post about preppy stickers. I soon discovered many different preppy blogs, and I instantly fell in love with the whole preppy community! The possibility of starting a blog was in the back of my mind for about 3 months, and when school was out for summer, I decided to finally go for it. The one year anniversary of Live The Prep Life is coming up on June 9th, and I'm so proud that I was able to stick with blogging.

Do you have a staple clothing item? If so, what is it?
My staple clothing item would probably have to be my white converse. A lot of my outfits are very casual, and white converse go with almost anything. I do love a good pair of jeans and my Kendra Scott Elisa necklace, though - it's so hard to choose just one staple item!

What's your favorite TV show to binge watch?
Right now, I'm currently hooked on Gossip Girl. I just finished the second season, and I'm already halfway through the third!

Do you have a favorite, or very recent, post you've written on your blog? If so, link it!
I've written a lot of posts that I love, so this is a hard one, but I put a lot of effort into my post on "What REALLY Goes On #behindthegram" so I'd have to choose that one!

What's your favorite quote?
"On the difficult days, when the world's on your shoulders, remember that diamonds are made under the weight of mountains."

It's Okay to Take a Break from Blogging

Hey everyone! So y'all might've noticed that towards the end of June I took a week off from blogging on Faith's Girly Life while I was on vacation with family. (If you want to check out the blog posts I did all about my vacation you can go look here, here, here, and  here). I also took a week off from my blog last summer (if you've been reading FGL that long). I think it was in late July or early August. With that said, I thought it was a topic I wanted to share about today.

If us bloggers are being honest- blogging can take its toll when it's added on onto early day life.  Sometimes trying to find the best pictures is hard and sometimes writers block does happen. And I think that it's ok that things like that happen. I do love blogging- don't get me wrong on that. Blogging has been great for me and a great passion of mine, but sometimes I need a break. I think we all need a break sometimes, from all kinds of things that we do each and everyday. That's why I took my chance to take off during my vacation. Which ended up being the perfect time to do so because my family had limited internet access and was living off of our cell phone data package all week.

But I also think it's important to remind other bloggers to take a break too. It's important that all the awesome bloggers you read every week feel empowered to take a break, because if you step away from your blog- you come back better than ever. You come back to you blog reminded of why you love to blog so much. The writers block is gone and taking flat lays is fun again. You come back to your blog so refreshed and ready to create for your readers. I know that by the time my vacation was finished and I was headed home- I was so ready and excited to get back to blogging, which is exactly how it should be. When you read someone's content you should be confident in the fact that they love it. So today I'm empowering all bloggers to take a break from blogging if they need it.

Bloggers- what are your thoughts on taking a break from your blog? Do you take time off every so often? Let me know in the comments below!

5 Things They Don't Tell You About Nannying

Hey everyone! So if you keep up with me on social media or have been reading my blog posts you may know that I spent a lot of my summer nannying. I had never been a consistent nanny before, just occasional babysitting whenever a job came up. So I didn't know exactly what it'd be like. But now that I've gotten some experience I wanted to share 5 things they don't tell you about nannying. I hope you enjoy this insight!

It's actually a lot of work
Sometimes people can be quick to think that being a nanny is easy. That it's just making sure the kids don't hurt themselves. But it can be a lot of work. Kids have to be feed and also entertained. It's not really a good idea to let kids watch TV all day so I have to always be coming up with games and things to do that are fun.

You will worry about the kids
You spend so much time with the kids you nanny, you learn exactly what's normal for them. So it something starts to seem off, you worry. Or even if an accident does happen- either on your watch or off, you worry. They become so much a part of your life that you just can't help worrying about them.

Nap time is the best time
Growing up most of us didn't really enjoy naps. Now that we're older we do tend enjoy taking naps sometimes. But I never realized how amazing a child's nap time is for the adult in charge until I became a nanny. It's beautiful quiet time you get to yourself! And no matter what you do with that time, I promise you it's a nice treat to break up the day!

You get to be a kid again
As I mentioned before, you have to keep the kids entertained and some times that requires you to bring out your inner child. Singing nursery rhymes in the car, making funny faces, and climbing into forts all can end up part of your job description. But the bright side of this it lets you be a kid again without fear of judgement and I think every adult needs that sometimes.

You'll love the kids like their your own
Like I said before, you do spend a lot of time with the kids you nanny. With that time you really do starts to love them and they really do begin to be like your own kids!

I hope you enjoyed this insight into being a nanny! If your a nanny yourself; do you agree with what I said? Do you have anymore insight? Share it in the comments!

Blogger Interview: Shelly

Shelly is the blogger behind Within These Closet Walls. There she talks about fashion, lifestyle, and beauty. Read below to learn more about this blogger!

Why did you start blogging?
I started blogging mainly to express my opinions on things such as fashion and beauty, but over the past months, my blog has developed more as I grow as a blogger. I now write about fashion, beauty, lifestyle, and tips to help bloggers grow. I have also just started a YouTube channel (go subscribe) that will allow me to connect more with my followers and subscribers. As soon as I get some ideas for videos, I will start making some vlogs.

Do you have a staple clothing item? If so, what it is?
My staple clothing items would have to be my J.Crew shorts. It is now summer, so I am positive I will be wearing those a lot, plus they are totally cute.

What's your favorite TV Show to binge watch?
My favorite TV shows would have to be Gossip Girls and Grey's Anatomy without a doubt. I can watch in replay and never get bored. Also, Blair Waldorf and Serena van der Woodsen have some great advice for life.

Do you have a favorite, or very recent, post you've written on your blog? If so, link it!
My favorite post would have to be "Blog Maintenance". I have gotten so much feedback from other bloggers. They love this and encourage me to continue writing about blogging tips. Also the upcoming post about "Instagram Themes" is amazing. I will be giving out tips about using a theme and how to create one.

What's your favorite quote?
My favorite quote is "Whoever said that money doesn't buy happiness didn't know where to shop." I have diagnosed myself a severe shopaholic. I spend my money continuously buying things online from clothes to shoes. I mean it is so easy to just click "confirm order". I think I might have a problem.

Monthly Intentions Collaboration- August

Hey everyone! I'm back with another month participating in the Monthly Intentions Goal Collab. I'll start with a High and a Low for the month of July as well as an update on my July goals. Then I'll let you know what my goals for August are!

High for July
My high for July was defiantly the day my family and I spent on Lake Norman. We rented a pontoon boat and spent the day swimming, hanging out, and eating a pic nice lunch.

Low for July
My low for July was the heat for sure. North Carolina's temperatures have been through the roof and it's not been fun at all. I just hope the temperatures begin to cool off a bit soon!

July Goals Update
1. Get better at replying to comments on blog posts- I think I did really well with this! Now I just want to keep up with the progress I made this month and continue to reply to those who comment on my posts!

2. Comment on more Instagram photos- I did really well with this at the beginning of the month but dropped off a bit towards the end. I'd like to continue to work on this during the month of August!

3. Read 3 books- This one was a complete success! I actually even got half way through a 4th book before the month ended! If you're interested in seeing what books I read- I'm posting a list of every book I read this summer later in August!

4. Repaint my nails twice- This is another goal I was able to complete successfully!

August Goals

1. Comment on more Instagram photos-
Because I wasn't completely successful in doing this during the month of July, I'm going to carry this goal over into August!

2. Stick to my blogging schedule-
For the first time ever, I came into the month with all of my blog posts planned out for the month of August. Because I've never done this before, I want to make sure I keep to the schedule.

3. Go to the gym/ work out at least 3 times a week-
My schedule got a little crazy during the month of July so I wasn't as consistent with the gym as I would've liked. I also have a lot going on during the month of August, but I want to make my health a real priority and go to the gym or work out at least 3 times a week.

I hope you enjoyed a recap of my July as well as a look into my goals for the month of August. Let me know what your goals are in the comments! Also- be sure to take a look at the awesome ladies below to see what their goals are for this month!
